Application Fee
For students who register in advance online,
a US$30.00 registration fee plus $3 in processing
fees is required. This $33 is on
top of the cost of tuition, it is not a
deposit that will later be subtracted from
tuition payments. The $33 is not
charged immediately to your account; we
process it through our office and so it
may take a little while to appear as a charge
on your Visa account. (Our system is unable
to process MasterCard transactions, but
we encourage those who don't use Visa to
write and ask us about alternate ways to
make a reservation--we want to welcome you
too as Celas Maya students!) Registration
is available online via our online
enrollment form. Alternatively, a
printable version is available which
can then be mailed or faxed to us.
Payment
of the registration fee guarantees a space
for the applicant and helps to cover the
maintenance of the web page, promotion,
brochures, mailings, phone calls and other
general expenses. It also allows us to confirm
your studies in advance and gives us time
to pair you with the teacher and host family
that we think will be the best match for
you. The credit card payment is only for
the advance registration fee; you will not
be charged at all for tuition until you
arrive here at the school. Students who
choose not to register in advance may visit
our office for registration; space is granted
on an as-available basis.

Forms of Payment
Weekly tuition payments may be made with
cash (quetzales or US dollars), traveler's
cheques, or with a credit card (Visa, Mastercard,
American Express, Discover, Diners Club
International). With regard to credit card
payment, a 5% surcharge is added to credit
card payments due to the bank processing
fee.
Payment is expected on your first day of
classes of the first week. We also give
you the opportunity each week to reserve
your spot for the next coming week. To assure
your spot for the next week, we require
half of the next week's tuition on Wednesday
of the current week. This payment is a credit
toward your next week of study.
Groups We have the experience and administrative
capacity to host large groups of students
to study Spanish. Each spring for the
past three years, CELAS Maya has hosted
a group of more than 50 anthropology students
from Utrecht University, the Netherlands,
for three weeks of intensive language
study. Various universtiy and ministry
groups from the United States have counted
on our program year after year for their
members.
For large groups, we arrange homestays
with two or three students per family,
communicate with a group leader prior
to the group's arrival to plan special
activities, and make schedules for equitably
distributed internet access. Airport pick-up
service and practical services such as
laundry may also be arranged. Write us
at info@celasmaya.edu.gt to ask about
possibilities for high school and university
credit.
