Living Arrangements
Each family hosts a small number of students, couples, or families in order to maximize the opportunity to speak in a native tongue. While a family homestay is strongly recommended, it is not required. Students may make their own living arrangements, perhaps staying in a hotel or renting a nearby apartment, and the weekly tuition is accordingly decreased.

Homestay Features
While the experience of a family homestay varies from one host family to the next, each homestay will include the following elements.

· A private, furnished bedroom with a bed, desk, and lamp
· Hot water showers
· Purified water for drinking at mealtimes (Celas Maya has a water   purifier in the school which students use to fill bottles)
· Three meals a day, Monday through Saturday (you still have your room with the host   family on Sunday, but on that day you can explore the cafés and restaurants of Xela   while they take a rest from cooking)
· Special menus for vegetarian students
· Keys to the house and to the private bedroom
· Easy walking distance to the school
· A family with experience in hosting foreign visitors
